Twelfth Night

Runnymede PS will embark on an unforgettable journey through literature history.  As part of The Stratford Shakespeare Festival’s Teaching Shakespeare Program, students of our class will be attending a performance of William Shakespeare’s As You Like It.  This is a live performance that is both dramatically gripping and educationally enriching at a cost of only $50.00 per student inclusive.

This is an excellent opportunity for our students to experience an outstanding performance by one of our country’s leading theatre companies.  In addition, to further deepen the experience, several actors from the company are currently leading classroom workshops where students participate in a variety of themed, hands-on activities.  The aim of Stratford’s Teaching Shakespeare Program is to provide students with a much more dynamic, vibrant and engaging introduction to Shakespeare, and to equip teachers with the tools to provide such an experience for their students.

On the day of the show, we will leave school at exactly 8:45 a.m. (please be in your classes no later than 8:30 a.m.).  Upon arriving in Stratford, students will take part in a special educational program, on stage, where they will be exploring various facets of the play.  After this Pre-Show Workshop, students will enjoy a picnic lunch on the banks of the Avon River (weather permitting, please bring packed lunch).  The matinée performance begins at 2:00 p.m. and runs for 3 hours.   Our return to school should be by 7:00 p.m.  Parents can pick up their children at that time from the Runnymede Yard or make alternate arrangements.  Students may bring light snacks and bottled water and/or juice for the bus ride.

Cost:  $50.00

Date:  Tuesday, October 18, 2011

Parent volunteers are required at a cost of $30.
